I'm not political in the conventional sense. I do care deeply about our world and every creature in it and that includes politicians, but I just feel talk is cheap and resolute; firm and decisive action is the way to bring about change. So that means I don't care what pundits say, I don't care what politicians say; it's clear to me it's a big money machine serving special interest groups, TV, and gossip lovers.

Now, that's not to say that I don't get inspired when I catch a couple minutes on TV of a rare man or woman who seems like someone I'd like to have dinner with, and who happens to be in the political business. I do, but they are few and far between. And even then, I'll wait to see if their rhetoric turns into action before I really get inspired.

Usually, these few minutes I catch of these people on TV happens at the gym. Since I'm very very old now, sometimes, if not feeling enthusiastic, I sit on that pathetic seated bike and go for 30 minutes. My motto is, "If it's harder than sitting on the couch eating cake, it counts." As useless as that bike is, it falls under the category of being harder than eating cake on my couch, so it does indeed meet the criteria of a successful workout and I leave feeling I've moved towards the solution rather than away from it.

Okay kids, I'm coming up for air and going to start giving you what you've been asking for, and what I've been wanting to give but was too busy! Forgive that clunky first effort but the heart was there. It's way late and I'm exhausted but I wanted to get back in the saddle. I'll warm up fast, you know I will.

JUNE 22nd at 11:30pm and every Sunday night thereafter for 14 weeks my new show will air on Showtime! "I Can't Believe I'm Still Single From Portland To Portland" That's fucking soon! It's ridiculous. It really is the book come to life. I'm flying without a net on this one and honestly am a bit scared. That's really never happened before so be gentle with me.

So here's the deal. I'm making a 10-part TV show out of my recent book tour. It will be either on a network or exclusively available on a weekly basis though my website, Amazon, and/or Netflix, I haven't decided which way I'm gonna go yet but one thing is for sure... it's stupid good. There will be an ample dose of the world according to Eric, many dates in many cities, and a ton of heartfelt and funny interviews with all kinds of people across the country about the nature of chemistry and love and singledom and union. Unfortunately, due to a personal situation with the management at the William and Mary bookstore, my books did not arrive in time for the signing tomorrow. So I'll have to cancel. Okay, you asked for it, you got it. The book tour dates are being set and I just might make a film about the tour while I'm at it... It seems the West Coast is first in late July and early August, then the East Coast and maybe South in late August and the fall. So If you want me to come to your town and read, you have to let me know ASAP. As of now...

San Diego, July 26th, 7 pm, Barnes and Noble (Mira Mesa).

Denver, August 9th, 7:30 pm, Tattered Cover Book Store.

Thanks to all of you who have sent me such kind notes on the book. It seems I'm going to be a weekly correspondent answering dating and sex related questions on the Suicide Girls radio show in LA. It broadcasts on indie 103.1 on Sunday nights at midnight PST. and streamed on their website, which is fun. Last night's question was from a gal whose boyfriend hums into her pussy and it doesn't really work for her. She wondered how to break the news to him. Okay, so for all of you excellent people who have been requesting a national reading tour... I'm going to try to make that happen. I appreciate your relentlessness and it's being planned for late july and august. If it all comes together it'll be fast and furious and cover as much of our great contry as possible. You may have to drive an hour or so if I skirt past your town but hopefully it'll be closer to you than NYC. Send your requests people! And thanks again for all of your support. P.S. I may be launching a weekly interactive internet talk show once a week on Paltalk.com. I don't know much about the intranets but from what I understand you'll be able to see me and hear me and talk to me... kinda cool. Stay tuned. It may happen in a couple weeks.

Readings in New York City

As I reported a couple weeks ago, since the book is out, I'll be writing here less for a while. Whenever a movie or TV show or book comes out, it's a very exciting but also very exposed, vulnerable feeling, so for the time being, I'm all exposed out. I'm sure you can understand. But I know the book will keep you company and then I'm sure I'll have more stories and be ready to write them.

In the meantime, I'm doing two readings that you're invited to. The first is at Rocky Sullivan's on May 16th at 8pm. It's a bar on 29th and Lexington.
